Meshing complex geometries is a meticulous job, but it is made simpler through use of the overset grid method (Chimera). With Chimera, each geometrical component can be meshed individually without the need to maintain node to node connectivity with other grid components. Connectivity between the various grid components is achieved by means of interpolation at the interfaces, together with 'collar grids' shown here in turqoise.
This complete fighter aircraft mesh was composed of 97 grids, with a total of 2.6x106 grid points.
